Why parents are choosing the CISCE board? The ASIS Group
According to recent reports published in the various newspaper daily/weekly, the school children of the ICSE board have outperformed those from the state boards and the central boards in the first-ever standardized countrywide test for Class X pupils carried out as a part of a sample survey by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Various daily/weekly outlets; The Hindu, The Sunday Standard, The Tribute, Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, and others covered the story which could be summarized into a headline from the Hindu that stated, “CISCE trumps CBSE, State boards”. NCERT surveyors visited 7216 schools, affiliated to 33 state boards and two national boards, and tested 277416 students on five subjects. ICSE Students scored 100/100 in English as compared to a national average of 68 for the CBSE students; the science and maths scores were 61 and 68 respectively as compared to the national average of 50 & 57 for the CBSE.
The tide is changing as far as the education scenario in India is concerned; parents are turning to the more comprehensive ICSE/ISC board as compared to the Central Board or the State boards. Apart from the more comprehensive and complete syllabus, there are several other reasons that have triggered this change.
A release quoted CISCE Chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon attributing the good performance to the board altering its curriculum. “Other than that, we have strived to keep a tab on the way things are being managed in the institutions. This has helped us in ensuring a quality education system in schools affiliated to us.” He added. The change in the trend is getting a lot of attention and it would be interesting to see where this trend leads to.
